In a study done on 1,611 women, either peri-menopausal or post-menopausal, age ≥40 years, 65% did not feel prepared for menopause (Marlatt, et al. 2018). 80% were interested in a lifestyle program to alleviate menopause symptoms. The most severe symptoms reported were insomnia and hot flashes. The majority would like to participate in a structure program providing answers to exercise mode/ frequency, diet/ lifestyle modifications, and other remedies. There are many questions in need of an answer: (1) What component of a lifestyle program would be most important, (2) which one would reduce symptoms which interfere with their normal daily activities, (3) which exercise is designed for women going through menopause, (4) which foods should be avoided, (5) where to find encouragement and support, (6) and where can I educate myself?
